Dragon and Isabelle became friends in 2nd grade, in Mrs. Falcinella’s class. This year, Isabelle will be a senior in high school, as Dragon would have been. A big year, just a step shy of college.
Isabelle emailed me recently. She worked on and finished a song as a tribute to Dragon — a cover of Beyonce’s “Heaven”. It is entirely self-produced, from the keyboard to the drums, from the strings to the vocals.
The amazing vocals! I had never heard this song before. The chorus goes, over and over, “Heaven couldn’t wait for you.” I guess that’s right, Dragon. I don’t know why, but Heaven couldn’t wait for you.
